Dr Ramon Zamora recently visited the University of Waikato to explore advancements in supercapacitor-assisted (SCA) technologies for power systems and renewable energy.
During the visit, he met with Professor Nihal Kularatna, a leading expert in supercapacitor applications, and engaged in technical discussions on SCA system development and implementation. He also interacted with PhD researcher Kalum Galmangoda and observed several laboratory prototypes demonstrating practical SCA applications.
The visit provided valuable insights for future research collaboration and curriculum development, particularly for Semester 1, 2026, teaching in power electronics and renewable energy systems.

The AUT–CNBM Intelligent Green Technology Research Hub is an interdisciplinary research and collaboration centre established through a strategic partnership between Auckland University of Technology and CNBM AUNZ.
Launched in November 2025, the Hub focuses on developing next-generation solutions in renewable energy, energy storage, smart charging infrastructure, and intelligent mobility systems. IGTRH serves as a bridge between academic research and global industry practice by offering students and researchers direct access to industry-standard technologies, datasets, and engineering expertise.
Our goal is to deliver low-carbon, high-impact innovations that support sustainable energy futures for New Zealand and the world.
